Rapids select Kohei Yamada in Supplemental Draft

NEW YORK (January 19, 2012) Kohei Yamada was selected by the Colorado Rapids in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft. Yamada becomes the first player from J.League to be drafted by MLS.
Yamada was scouted at the "2011 JPFA Tryout" last year in Tokyo by LeadOff Sports Marketing who serves as MLS' Players and International Relations Consultant. Yamada, from Hyogo, Japan, played 34 games with TheSpa Kusatsu the past two seasons. The 23-year-old most recently took part in the MLS Combine in Florida and was considered by MLSsoccer.com as the top prospect available in the Supplemental Draft.
