Go For Gold Sports Leadership Program Implemented
TOMODACHI U.S. Embassy Go For Gold Sports Leadership Program , sponsored by the U.S. Japan Council and the U.S. Embassy was held in early March. From a large number of applicants, 10 university students from Japan were selected as delegates and traveled to the U.S. (Los Angeles and New York) for a total of 2 weeks to learn about the U.S. sports industry.
LeadOff Sports had the honor of becoming an implementing partner of the New York program, and the delegates visited a total of seven locations, including UBS Arena, St. John’s University Athletics, NHL, New York Knicks, Creative Artists Agency, MLBPA, and New York Yankees. Staff members working at each organization provided the group with lectures of sports business in a various perspectives.
The delegates had many valuable experiences including pre-program training and final presentations after returning to Japan. Throughout the program, they were always eager to learn and actively asking
questions to absorb as much information as they could. We wish the best of luck and future success of these delegates, and we believe they will play a key role in Japan’s sports business in the future.
We have had a similar sports business tour program in the past as the “LeadOff Breakout Tour” and now we are honored to have the opportunity to be involved with the TOMODACH program through our partnership with the U.S. Japan Council. We appreciate the support of the U.S. Embassy, USJC, TOMODACHI, and all of our partners who were willing to host the visits. We hope that this excellent program will continue in the coming years, and we believe that this is a very beneficial opportunity for the future of the Japanese sports industry.
