Takuya Yamada Reaches Rowdies Milestone, 100th official match!
NEW YORK (August 26, 2013) – Former Japan National Team player, Takuya Yamada made his 100th appearance for Tampa Bay Rowdies, on his 39th birthday.
This memorable match which was also Yama's birthday, was heavily promoted as "YAMA100". Tampa Bay Rowdies supporters welcomed him with a "Mr. Rowdies 100th Game" banner, and he was presented a plaque during the pre-game ceremony by Andrew Nestor, President and General Manager of the Rowdies.
Yama's Quote: "The 100 games went by surpisingly fast. It was hard to fight back my tears of joy when I saw all the fans up in the stand, listening to the national anthem, and seeing my past 4 years flashing in front of me. I have been supported by so many people, and I want to thank each and every one of you. All I have done is to continue to play soccer, and I re-realize how wonderful this sports is making me feel this happy, and I am grateful for this game that has given me so many things"
